Rachael & Joe's Albany NY Wedding

We are reminiscing about Rachael & Joe's Albany NY Wedding on the blog today! Hard to believe this one was six years ago already. And honestly, thinking back to any wedding pre-2020 feels like at LEAST a decade ago! Haha...

While we travel so much for our weddings due to recommendations from families and friends all over the country, it is rare when we photograph a wedding in the city where we actually live! Well, city adjacent. ;)

That is definitely something we would like to more of now that we have two children at home with one in school. Don't get us wrong, we still want to travel far and wide for work (we just booked San Francisco for Summer 2024! Yay!), but it sure was nice to drive 15 minutes home to our bed for this one. ;)

Rachael was actually recommended us through her mom, who worked with my dad doing teacher evaluations in their retirement. After doing their engagement session and then their wedding here, we also worked with her sister Rebecca for the trifecta of sessions - engagement/wedding/baby! Hahaha. Such an amazing family and we are so lucky to be able to get to work with them since they have been so hospitable to us over the years. But back to Rachael and Joe!

When we first met Rachael, we learned that we grew up right down the street from each other in Clifton Park, NY! So it was fitting that we started the day in my hometown in the house that she grew up in for the getting ready photos!

After the getting ready, we made our way to downtown Albany to do the couple's first look on the steps of the Education Building next to the State Capitol.

After some portraits there, we moved over to the Empire State Plaza to do some pictures in front of The Egg, an amazing feat of architecture that holds a performing arts venue inside!

After some epic architectural photos and some more on the steps of the Capitol building itself, we made our way over to the reception venue, Sixty State Place.

Reviewing the photos for this post I was reminded how much we loved the moment with Joe holding Rachael's flowers walking back to the party bus. Seeing their smiles brought back the same grin that I had on my face watching it unfold that afternoon. :)

Such a wonderful day with such a wonderful family!

Congratulations Rachael & Joe! We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!
