Kelly & Kevin's Heppner Oregon Wedding

Kelly & Kevin's Heppner Oregon Wedding was a real special one for us. It was our fourth time traveling out to the small town in Eastern Oregon to photograph a special occasion for the Murray family.

Our first time out was over ten years ago for Katie & Luke's engagement session and we have since returned for multiple siblings weddings. We are so thankful to the whole family who we sometimes joke that they started (and kept!) us in business all these years with how large their family is! Forever grateful for their warmth and hospitality.

If you have never been to Heppner, and we wouldn't be surprised if you haven't. We have asked multiple people from Oregon if they know where it is they always look at us confused. Hahaha... Heppner is about a three hour drive east of Portland. The beautiful evergreens surrounding majestic waterfalls (like Multnomah Falls) give way to rolling hills and golden, treeless landscapes dotted with wind turbines, snowcapped mountains in the distance with vistas for days. The absolute PERFECT spot for some epically sweeping wedding photos!

Kelly & Kevin's wedding was on April 1st, 2023 and we were told up front that the weather can be rather, unpredictable around that time. And booooy were they not kidding!

As you can see in the headline photo, there appears to be snow on the grass. Well, that is hail... from a brutal hailstorm that hit RIGHT at the first look moment! It was crazy and had the entire bridal party running for their cars! We got about two and half minutes of full bridal party photos in before we had to run for the hills and most of them featured sideways hair (haha)! But we did manage to get some epically windblown shots of Kelly & Kevin before we had to evacuate due to the temperature drop. Honestly, it was pretty thrilling and we all laughed about it for the rest of the day!

We ended up taking more portraits back in town around Saint Patrick Catholic Church (where the ceremony was held) and ended the evening with a beautiful reception at the Gilliam & Bisbee Event Center.
